After Loyola Meralco Sparks became the first Philippines side to reach the semi-final RHB Singapore Cup last year, Global followed them this year as they beat League Cup champions DPMM Brunei 5-4 overall.
In the first leg, Global won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Rufino Familiar Sanchez.
In the second leg, DPMM Brunei was as good as gone as Global lead 2-0 at half time with a brace from Carlos De Murga and the Filipino will complete his hat-trick in the second half as Rufino Familiar Sanchez added a goal as well.
5-0 behind overall, DPMM Brunei then nearly staged a remarkable comeback as Artūras Rimkevičius got a brace and Tales Ricarte Dos Santos and Moreira Joao Vitor also scored to pull the score level on 4-4 on the night.
But the Brunei side could not get a fifth goal on the night to force extra-time and once again DPMM Brunei dream ended in the qurter-final.
