S'pore Olympic team coach V. Sundram Moorthy has picked out midfielder Shahfiq Ghani for special praise after the 17-year-old played a major part in the 3-1 win against the Thai U21.
He scored 1 goal and created another as well as picked up the Man-of-the match Award for his performance.
Sundram was quoted in FAS website that he was pleased with qualifying for the semi finals and with the 17 year old midfielder's performance.
“Shahfiq is developing into a fine player. He needs to grow as a player and get stronger in the coming years but I am impressed with the way he has held himself in this tournament.
"The team worked very hard and we expected Thailand to come at us, which they did in the first few minutes. We took our chances and got a good win."
