Tampines Rovers staged a remarkable comeback at Jalan Besar Stadium, after they have gone down two goals down in 16 minutes, and nearly snatched a winner themselves if not for Gombak United own remarkable comeback.
Right from the start, the pace of the game was set at a fanatic pace with Fazrul Nawaz scoring as Korean Park Kang Jin whip in a corner and the Singapore international escape his marker to rise and head past his national teammate Hassan.
Minutes later, an own goal (But credited to Bulls Zulkiffli Hassim by S-league despite it taking a big deflection off Zulkarnaen Zainal to go past Hassan Sunny) from the Stags from a Bulls counterattack saw the leaders down by two goals.
The Stags were rattled and unable to answer the Bulls so Stags coach Vorawan Chitavanich make an early change as Khairul Amri came on with just half an hour gone.
But, Khairul, the hero of Tampines Rovers on so many occasion this time, had no chance to make any impact as he injury himself just 10 minutes later and have to go off to be replaced by Jamil Ali.
The Stags now looked down and out but at this point they staged the start of the comeback as Japanese Seiji Kaneko scored at the stoke of half time with a thunderous volley off Shukor Zailan corner.
In the second period, both sides went for it as the Stags seek an equaliser while the Bulls go for a killer third as the match swing back and forth.
It was the Stags who got it, with 20 minutes left to play, when Qiu got the ball and went past his marker to have the place to smash in a screamer from the edge of the box.
The pendulum has now swing to the Stags and they pressed the Bulls back for the rest of the match.
Just when it looked like the Bulls will hold out, an own goal came as Bah Mamadou directed Qiu’s corner into his own net in stoppage time.
It looked over but nobody told the Bulls, especially Agu Casmir, as immediately, they won a corner and from that, Agu scrambled the ball into the net in remarkable fashion.
It was one the best of the game and Starhub and MediaCorp got it right to telecast it on LIVE TV.
