No stopping Tampines

Tampines Rovers beat Courts Young Lions 4-2 to open up a 8-point lead at the top and the champions still have a game in hand.

Despite falling behind in the top-against-bottom clash at the Jalan Besar Stadium after Iqbal Hussain opened the scoring in the 14th minute, the Stags overturned the deficit shortly after the half-hour mark thanks to quickfire goals from Kunihiro Yamashita and Shahdan Sulaiman.

Their lead was extended in the 63rd minute when Fahrudin Mustafic fired home a penalty following an incident which also saw Farhan Rahmat receive a straight red for handling the ball on the line, before the Tampines captain made it 4-1 with another spot-kick seven minutes later to wrap up the points, although the hosts did manage to pull one back 16 minutes from time when Yamashita scored an unfortunate own-goal.

In another match, Warriors FC drew 0-0 with Geylang International, a result that will do neither side any favours in their bid to finish in the top six.
