According to AFC website, FAS has decided to pull S-league out of the race to gain direct entry to the ACL over the fact that AFC do not wish to see foreign clubs in any league seeking ACL entry.
To say I have mixed feeling is correct as frankly, the chances of making the ACL group stages through direct entry were low in the first place as we also lacked other criteria like the stadiums etc.
Still, it is not nice to see S-league lose a fight before it even started especially as A-league was able to include their New Zeland team in their league thanks to a deal between AFC and OFC.
This lacked of political strength by FAS mean I have to contend with ACL payoff yet again next year. (and likely for a while)
It is certainly no loss, as we have nothing to lose, nor any gain but as long as S-league keep it spot in the ACL playoff, I will be happy for the moment.
