Indra hit 198 to end Eagles unbeaten league run

Former international Indra Sahdan is all set to become the fourth player to have his name added to the next level of 200 domestic goal list after he hit a brace against Geylang United at Bedok Stadium.

He has now 198 domestic goals and only Aleksandar Duric (295), Mirko Grabovac (244) and Egmar Goncalves (238) have hit more goals than the 32-year-old.

The Eagles must have hoped their former player - Indra played for them from 1997 until 2000 - would still be suffering from his recent dry spell with only 2 goals in his 10 outings in all competition.

Unfortunately, Indra hit just the right note to banish the Eagles to their second straight defeat after the Bedok side had been knocked out of the Singapore Cup last week.

It was also the end of the Eagles good run in the league where they have been undefeated since an April Fool defeat against Home United.

However, it may have never happen if not for Itimi Dickson dismissal with still 35 minutes to play for soon afterward the floodgate open as Mustaqim Manzur scored the opening goal.

Forced to get the equaliser, Indra hit his former club hard with two goals in 9 minutes to kill off the Eagles.

Eagles coach Mike Wong must be hoping it is only a blip in form and not the start of an avalanche of turnaround after the Eagles had enjoy a good, and some say fortunate, two months.
