The Cubs are ahead of even SAFFC and Home United now although the Cubs have played a game more.
Balestier Khalsa could have matched the Young Lions achievements if they had won the encounter against the Cubs but were dealt a crushing blow at Toa Poyah Stadium with the Cubs running away 3-0 winners.
The results did not reflect the fact the Tigers had done well in the game but Korean import Seo Su Jong open the scoring before two more goals from Nazrul Ahmad Nazari and Shahfiq Ghani killed off the tie.
The Tigers then saw Paul Cunningham send off as he committed a professional foul against Seo Su Jong who was clear on goal.
It was a bad night and the Tigers must be hoping the return of Rivaldo in the next match will add the needed bite they clearly lacked in this match.
In the other match on the same night, the Bulls defeated the White Swans 3-1 to overtake the Eagles in the race for third spot.
The Bulls goals came from Agu Casmir, Fazrul Nawaz and Zulkiffli Hassim. Takaya Sugasawa had reply for the White Swans
