Two years after their return to the S-league, new coach Patrick Vallee have lead Tanjong Pagar United to their first opening day victory in 12 years.
Not since 2001 when the Jaguars defeated Marine Castle 1-0 have the club won a game on their opening day.
And the Frenchman have himself to thanks for that as he recruited correctly in pre-season as his French recruits Monsef Zerka and Kamel Ramdani fired the Jaguars into a two-goal lead in under 10 minutes
By the time Balestier Khalsa woke up from their disaster started they were left with a task which proved too deep even as they mount a min-comeback as Zulkiffli Hassim fired a goal back and the Tigers had rattled the crossbar twice in between by Qiu Li which could have done the impossible.
It was not to be as substitute Hafiz Nor scored possibility the goal of the season to seal a 3-1 win.
