AFC Cup: Eagles earn a point against Thai Port

For one of the rare time this season, Geylang United showed their 2009 Singapore Cup fighting spirit to earn themselves a 2-2 draw against Thai FA Cup Champions Thai Port.

The Singapore Cup champions were down by two goals within 30 minutes and their campaign in Asia looked over before it has even begun.

But, with their back to the wall, the Eagles started to fight back and they were rewarded with an own goal before half-time.

It gave the eagles heart going into the break and they came out fighting even fiercer to get their equaliser.

It came within moments of the second period as Slovak forward Peter Tomko open his account in Asia.

The Eagles had the momentum now and they nearly cap a brilliant comeback as Peter Tomko nearly got his second of the night but for the post.

The Thai were pin back and they were frustrated and it boil over as the Thai were down to 10 men for they had a player send off in injury time.

Overall it was a good result for the Eagles as they were down two goals at one point and were looking down and out but now with home advantage, in two week time, they can snatch a valuable win to secure the all important second spot in the group.
